Obese teens grows to be fat adults

A new study reveals that the obesity in adolescence increase the chance of an obese adulthood by 16 percent. It also says those females are more prone to carry their teen obesity to their adulthood. It had been found that nearly half of the girls and one third of the boys who had an obese teenage put on even more weight and become extremely fat by the time they are in their 30’s.

It was estimated that in the year 2000 nearly 2.2 % of the adults or about 4.8 millions individual were severely obese and among them the percentage of women were even more, says a conducted study.

It is necessary to understand who is at risk of being severely obese so that required interventions can be implemented at the right time to prevent the already obese teens to grow up to be an severely obese adults. A severely obese person often weighs an extra 100 pounds over their ideal weight.

The incidents of obesity hasn’t increased over the time but it is true and is proven by the research, that most obese teens undergoes yet more weight gain during their adolescence . Now, the question may arise why is this so? Most, teens are addicted to junk foods containing higher percentage of calories. This, with minimum body workouts results in excessive weight gains among teenagers. Girls are known to take part in lesser activities and physical exercises than boys are hence are generally fall as victims of immense weight gain.

This growing tendency of obesity among the child and teens are becoming a matter of concern among most parents. Excessive weight is the main cause behind the increase in the cardiac ailment among teens and youths. It is high time for the parents to set their focus on making their children slim down to maintain a proportionate body weight. Lowering the intake of food items containing excessive calories and encouraging the children to eat healthy and encourage the intake of slimming diet is the only way to reduced the obesity among teens that often results to excessively fat adults.

Welcome to the workspace of the 2010 era! The fact that firms like Google, Disney, Pixar, Facebook etc have all opted for a very open and flexible workspace has meant that a lot of other smaller firms have also decided to incorporate smaller figments into the workspace to help boost the welfare of their employees.

And weight loss figures high on this list. In fact, weight loss chairs – that vibrate and help stir up the residual fat and help burn the extra calories through sedentary motion, have all been welcomed into the new-age workspace by many firms, amidst cheer from the employees as well.

The fact that most people have either ignored the obesity warning or do not have the time to exercise or diet at home due to heavy work hours, can now relax at work – meet deadlines and reduce waistlines in parallel fashion!

100 South Carolina Workers Call it a Day to Obesity!

If you were an employee under the South Carolina government, and were obese, chances are that the sun might finally shine down upon you in its full glory! The State government of South Carolina has decided that it will allow 100 of some select workers to undergo weight-loss surgery, with the expenses to be borne by the State itself!

The decision has workers in the state rejoicing, for a lot of them are obese – and a free surgery is almost a boon in its own right. Though weight loss supplements along with exercise are a safer and guaranteed mode of losing weight, weight loss surgery is almost always more coveted than the former.

Also, the fact that such costly procedures like lap-band surgery and gastric surgeries can be now done for free is also a lucrative incentive for the SC workers. However, since it is only for 100 select people, applications are to be entertained only on a “first come and then approved” basis.

The logic behind this move has also been explained by the State government. With more and more people falling into the trap of obesity, costs to the State in the form of frequent leaves, absence from work due to weight related issues as well as declining productivity were sky-rocketing. In order to control the same, the state hopes that this incentive will make the workers more weight-conscious, and hence more productive.

As for South Carolina itself, the state certainly has set the bar high but in an ideal position for other States to emulate!

Slimming Man of the Year is British Dad!

Surprises come in all sizes, and for the kids of an obese British father, it was the sheer weight loss for their dad that had them in a fit of fun! After all, Stuart Howells from the small city of Carmarthenshire, the Brit dad in question, was awarded the Slimming World Man of the Year prize, for losing a whopping 79 kg of weight in a time period of around 2 years.

The award was certainly due recognition of the middle-aged Howells’ efforts towards leading a healthy life, who had only been one of the most obese men in his neighborhood a couple of years back in time. Stuart Howells, who used to have a breathing assistance provider hooked on to himself while sleeping (yes, that was the extent of his obesity problem), has managed to slim down from 154 kg to a startling 75 kg – almost half of his original weight!

Stuart Howells must have inspired a large range of middle-aged Brit dads, a lot of whom are also struggling with the same issue of obesity as Stuart once was. But it’s a different story for him now – with half his body weight and almost 70% of the flab gone, he can cycle, run and play soccer with his kids – things he had always wanted to do but could not because of his weight.

Having contemplated weight loss supplements, slimming products and exercise regimens, Howells had enrolled in an online slimming regimen which allowed him to lose the astounding amount of fat and flab that got him the award.
